Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has started to make all required arrangements for participation in an International Book Fair due to be organized in Guadalajara, Mexico next November. ALECSO will participate as an honorary guest. The ALECSO's delegation led by its Director General Dr Munji Bosineina has recently ended a visit to Mexico. During his visit, the delegation met with the officials in charge of the show. ALECSO's sources said a decision has been made to undertake translation of some Mexican books into Arabic language and some Arabic books into Spanish. The Book Show is viewed as one of the most important cultural events in the world, notably in Latin America which includes about 400 million Spanish language speakers. As many as 1500 publishing houses from 40 countries will participate in the Book Show which is expected to be visited by about 500,000 persons. A pavilion of about 1500 square meters has been allocated for the Arab participation in the Book Show. It will host more than 40 literary men and intellectuals.
