2006. On the issue of Jerusalem and the educational and cultural situation in Occupied Palestine, the general conference urged the Arab countries to coordinate their efforts at the meetings of UNESCO's Executive Council and the International Heritage Committee. It also called for extending moral and financial support to the educational and cultural institutions in Palestine, and cooperate with the Palestinian National Committee for the implementation of cultural and scientific projects in Palestine. The general conference urged the international community to work for the withdrawal of the foreign troops from Iraq, and putting an end to inhuman practices against the Iraqi people. The general conference re-elected its Director General Dr Munji Bosineina for a new four-year term effective Jan 2005.
