An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shook southwest Ternate, North Maluku, on Saturday at 11.23 am local time, ANTARA reported. The quake's epicenter was located at 0.55 degrees northern latitude and 126.64 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 21 below sea level, around 85 km southwest of Ternate, according to information from the national meteorology and geophysics office here on Saturday. Early Saturday, at around 5.15 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB), a 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit northwest of Saumlaki, Maluku Province. The epicenter of the quake hitting Saumlaki was at the coordinates of 6.94 degrees southern latitude and 130.29 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 10 km below the Banda Sea level.
