The Human Rights Council in Geneva has condemned Israeli military operations in Gaza Strip which claimed the lives of more than 125 Palestinians and led to the injuries of other hundreds including women and children. The condemnation came in the Council's resolution issued last night in a special session held at the request of the Arab Group, the Organization of Islamic Conference and non-aligned states. Addressing the Council, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Abdulwahab Attar stressed that the Kingdom joins the appeals made by Pakistan on behalf of the Islamic Conference, Palestine on behalf of the Arab Group, and Cuba, on behalf of the non-aligned group. He said that Israel is pursuing the policy of a holocaust against the Palestinian people, calling for stopping the Israeli war machine, adopting a resolution condemning these massacres and activating the mission of inquiry headed by Desmond Tutu disrupted by Israel last year for not granting entry visa to the head of the mission. Dr. Attar also called on the Council to assume its duties to monitor such violations.
