The United Nations Economic and Social Council has voted to adopt a resolution calling upon Israel to abide by the Geneva Convention and facilitate the return of all refugees and displaced Palestinian women and their families. The non-binding resolution was adapted as part of the agenda on the Commission on the Status of Women, a two-week conference at UN Headquarters in New York. The resolution also condemned all acts of violence in the Palestinian Territories and called upon the international community to provide urgently needed assistance to the Palestinian people in reconstructing relevant institutions.
