Yemen's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Salih Ali Basurrah, underscored the importance of Scientific and Cultural Week for Yemeni Universities to be hosted by Saudi universities, starting Saturday, February 23 in which his ministry and ten Yemeni government and private universities take part. In a joint press conference with the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Ali bin Mohammed Al-Hamdan, Basurrah said the idea of holding a scientific and cultural week in Saudi Arabia was initiated by the Saudi side during a Saudi scientific and cultural delegation's visit to Yemen in 2005. He said he suggested during a visit to Saudi Arabia in 2006 and a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari, to hold this activity every two to three years in either country. On his part, the ambassador said five Saudi universities: Jeddah King Abdulaziz University, Makkah Ummulqurah University, Riyadh King Saudi University, Ihsa King Faisal University and Madinah Taiba University, will co-host the Yemeni week. He pointed out that such activities would further strengthen the fraternal and cordial ties between the peoples of the two countries.
