An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale shook Bengkulu on Tuesday at 1.29 pm, but reports on damages or casualties were not yet available, according to ANTARA. The epicenter of the quake was located at 3.31 degrees southern latitude and 100.73 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 20 km, around 91 km southwest of Muko District, according to Coordinator of Bengkulu meteorological and geophysics office Fahmiza said here on Tuesday. Bengkulu Province, which is prone to earthquakes, was devastated by a powerful temblor in September 2007, killing over ten people and destroying thousands of houses.
