A sedan in an illegal drag car race lost control and crashed into a group of roadside spectators near Washington, D.C., killing 7 people, Xinhua quoted police as saying. The accident took place on a highway in Maryland's Prince George's County, some 30 kilometers from Washington, D.C. at about3:40 a.m. (0840 GMT), according to the county's police spokesman Clinton Copeland. Four other people were wounded and their conditions are unknown, he said. A crowd of 50 people were at the roadside to watch the race at the time. The driver of the crashed car survived but a passenger in the car died. Police are still investigating the accident.
