Forty planes of the Russian Air Force will take part in the final stage of the naval task force exercise in the North Atlantic Ocean, Itar-Tass reported. Six Tu-96MS strategic bombers, eight Tu-22M3 planes and two A-50 radar detection planes left the airfields of the Long Range Aviation on Tuesday. "During the exercise, pilots will master surveillance tasks, practice missile and bomb attacks on naval ships of an imaginary enemy, conduct air attacks and air patrolling missions,” Air Force spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky said.
