A Russian-Indian tactical anti-terrorist drill, Indra 2005, will be held on the Indian territory on October 10-20, Itar-Tass reported. The active phase of the exercises is scheduled for October 16-18, said Russian Airborne Forces Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Kolmakov. "The main goal of the exercises is to prepare for joint response to a possible terrorist attack," he said. Ships and servicemen of Russia's 76th airborne division and India's 50th separate airborne brigade will take part in the exercises. Russian and Indian airborne companies will land in the area 'seized' by terrorist groups. Their task is to take control of 'a terrorist base' and free 'hostages'. Meanwhile, the ships will be maneuvering and having artillery and anti-aircraft missile shooting. Inspections of suspect-ships will be trained, as well. The Russian and Indian defense ministers will watch the exercises, Kolmakov said while addressing the Russian Press in New Delhi.
