UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has commended Pakistan s contribution to the United Nations for peace and promoting the common cause of regional and international stability, officials said. During his meeting with President Pervez Musharraf in Davos on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, Moon said that Pakistan has made substantial contribution to the UN peace-keeping operations in various parts of the world. The UN diplomat appreciated Pakistan s role as a front-line state in the global fight against terrorism and hoped that they will have the support of the world community to achieve the objective of peace and stability the world over. We hold Pakistan in high esteem in strengthening the UN system for addressing the common cause, he said. Pakistan as a country has strong presence in the UN system. Musharraf briefed the UN Secretary General on Pakistan s efforts towards strengthening the democratic process and taking strong measures for combating terrorism.
