Leaders praise King's role for world peace

Several Arab, Muslim and world leaders have highlighted the pivotal role being played by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in his quest for overall peace in the world.
In statements to Okaz, they lauded King Abdullah's efforts to establish security and stability in the Mideast. The leaders felt that the King is also striving to bolster Islamic solidarity and consolidate the culture of dialogue. The Monarch adopts the policy of peaceful coexistence and moderation to find common ground among the peoples of the world.
King Abdullah's efforts to stabilize oil prices have also come in for praise. The leaders valued King Abdullah's concern for the poor and developing countries and support for their projects and aspirations through many initiatives announced recently during the Jeddah Energy Meeting.
Jordan's King Abdullah said the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques seeks to establish a just, long-lasting and comprehensive peace in the region. The Arab peace initiative proposed at the Beirut summit, can never be forgotten, he said. The Kingdom under the leadership of King Abdullah has made quantum leaps in all fields, he added.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas referred to King Abdullah's initiatives in support of the Palestinian cause in all international forums. He stressed that the Kingdom leads the countries supporting the Palestinian issue politically, morally and financially. He appreciated the Kingdom's efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He said efforts being exerted by King Abdullah have won respect and appreciation in the Arab and international circles.
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said King Abdullah has played a prominent role in consolidating solidarity and instilling the culture of dialogue between followers of Islam and other monotheistic religions. “The Kingdom under King Abdullah's leadership has come up with numerous initiatives aimed at solving several regional and international issues, especially those related to combating terror,” Musharraf said.
Muslim countries view these efforts with respect and appreciation, Musharraf said. He lauded the efforts to establish dialogue between Islam and the West, rectify the image of Islam in the world
Musharraf stressed that King Abdullah is a pivotal figure in the Muslim World due to his wisdom, farsightedness, wise policy and keenness that security and peace should prevail in the world.
Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi highlighted the King's efforts in creating a state of harmony, bridging the gaps and strengthening solidarity among Muslim countries.
Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Al-Siniora said King Abdullah was instrumental in achieving national conciliation in Lebanon.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said King Abdullah's efforts to establish peace are not confined only to Mid-east region. World peace is King Abdullah's top priority, he said.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said King Abdullah is the pioneer of Arab initiatives aimed at boosting security and peace in the region. He added that the Arab League has been receiving unlimited support from him.
Former South African president Nelson Mandela said King Abdullah is a man of peace initiatives and is keen that security and peace should prevail in the whole world. He views the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques as a peace-loving world personality. – Okaz __
