Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith commended bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Australia, pointing to the Kingdom's prestigious position at the regional and international levels. In a statement issued today by his office on the appointment of Kevin Maggie, as new Australian ambassador to the Kingdom, the minister said the Kingdom is considered as a major power for stability in the region, affirming that the two friendly countries are linked by a number of international issues of common interest including combat of terrorism, and international security and stability. On the other hand, Saudi Ambassador to Australia Hassan Talat Nazer held today a luncheon in honor of the new Australian Ambassador. In his speech, the Saudi Ambassador wished the Australian Ambassador all success in his mission and in continual work for the enhancement of bilateral relations.
