Morocco announced the return of its ambassador to Spain on Monday, ending a two-month diplomatic crisis, according to dpa. Ambassador Omar Azziman was returning to Madrid following the visit to Morocco by Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry announced in Rabat. The ambassador had been called for consultations on November 5 over the visit of Spain's King Juan Carlos to the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla on the north African coast, which Morocco claims as its own. Spain has sought to repair the relations, with Moratinos handing his Moroccan counterpart a letter stressing the importance of Morocco for Spain. The Spanish government saw Juan Carlos' first visit as king to Ceuta and Melilla as long overdue, but Morocco regarded it as a provocation.
