A Dutch tanker is leaking up to 10,000 litres of diesel at a canal lock near Wesel on the lower Rhine river, German officials said, according to DPA. The fire-brigade laid barriers to prevent the oil from continuing to spread and was pumping the remaining fuel to another tank. The Rhine river was not closed. The 80-metre-long tanker was carrying 1,100 tons of diesel in 12 tanks from Holland was anchored. The cause of the leak and the extent of the damage was unknown and being investigated by Duisburg police.
