President General Pervez Musharraf will take oath as civilian President for a five-year term on November 29 (Thursday), relinquishing his army post, his spokesman Maj-Gen (retd) Rashid Qureshi said. Musharraf will also hand over the command of the Pakistan Army as the Chief of Army Staff to Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani. Kiyani will assume the charge as the new army chief the same day. Musharraf started visiting different military headquarters for farewell calls on Tuesday. He was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff on October 7, 1998.
