The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh on Monday. At the outset of the session, the King valued the outcomes of the Third OPEC Summit concluded in Riyadh on Sunday, commending the spirit of fraternity and cooperation prevailed over the summit's deliberations and sessions which resulted in its success and distinction and the summit's affirmation of OPEC continuation to achieve its great objectives through the search for keeping a balance in the energy market . The Monarch also praised the summit's emphasis on oil as an energy for building and construction rather than a means of dispute and conflict and on the real and objective interest in protecting environment and dealing in climatic changes. The King stressed the Kingdom's continual policy based on bridging dialogue between producing and consuming countries and the responsibility of the two sides towards developing countries and combating of poverty. To achieve this objective, OPEC established the International Development Fund whose contributions covered more than120 countries since its inception more than thirty years ago as well as its direct assistance to OPEC member states. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Amin Madani said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the cabinet on the talks and meetings held over the previous days with leaders of countries and their envoys which dealt with the developments of the situations in the region and the world including his meeting with Chairman of Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas which dealt with the developments of the Palestinian cause. The King informed the cabinet of the meeting due to be held in Annapolis in the United States of America and the efforts exerted to reach a just and comprehensive solution for ensuring all the rights of the Palestinian people. Then the cabinet was briefed by Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, on the outcomes of Saudi-Yemeni Coordination Council in its 18th session held in Riyadh last week. The cabinet commended the council's embodiment in its various sessions of deep, strong and distinguished relations and keenness on enhancing them to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and their peoples in all fields. On the other hand, the cabinet condoled Bangladeshi government and relatives of the dead as a result of the cyclone that recently struck some areas and inflicted great damage to people and properties, stressing the Kingdom's stand by brothers in Bangladesh to alleviate the effect of this calamity. --More
