Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, the President of the department of meteorology and environmental protection, inaugurated here today the ninth session of the international meeting of the territorial waters, organized by the UN's environment program in cooperation with the regional commission for the preservation of the Red Sea and Aden Gulf environment. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ziad Abu Gharara said the red sea and Aden gulf have attained great economic importance at the regional and international arenas. On his part, UN assistant secretary general and executive director of the environment program Shifkat Kakaheil said the participation of 161 countries in the meeting provides a clear evidence for its importance. He noted that the meeting will discuss a number of topics including the future trends for the protection of the sea environment effective from 2008 up to 2012.
