The second regional forum on preservation of the environment of the Red Sea began its deliberations here on Sunday evening under the chairmanship of Egyptian Minister of Environment Majid George. The Saudi delegation to the 4-day forum is led by Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, the President of the Administration of Meteorology and Environmental Protection. Addressing the forum's inaugural session, Prince Turki bin Nasser underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination in the field of environmental protection. He pointed out that the Kingdom had prepared the national plan for combating environmental pollution. Prince Turki bin Nasser called to learn lessons from Tsunami which hit South East Asia last year, and to take the required precautionary measures for lessening the impact of any disaster that might take place. On his part, Dr Ziad Abu Gharara, the Secretary General of the Regional Commission for the Preservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Aden Gulf, said the organization of the forum aims at exchanging expertise in the field of environmental protection.
