Three European Union foreign ministers gave their support to Lebanon's efforts to achieve peace, stability and break the political deadlock in the country following talks Saturday with Lebanon's rival political leaders, DPA reported. "Our main aim as three European ministers is to bring peace and stability to Lebanon," French Foreign Bernard Kouchner said during a press conference with his Italian and Spanish counterparts. Earlier, Kouchner, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos and Italy's Massimo D'Alema met with parliament speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Fouad Seniora in an effort to help the Lebanese leaders reach a consensus to elect a president before a November 24- deadline. "Lebanon should announce during November good news which will lead the way to stability in the region," Moratinos said. "From our meetings with the Lebanese leaders we found that there is a positive and encouraging atmosphere." "We want to see this country stable and see Lebanon sovereign and independent," D'Alema said. The visit of the European foreign ministers came ahead of a possible convening of parliament Tuesday to try to pick a successor to President Emile Lahoud, whose mandate ends on November 24.
