Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, arrived in Beirut Sunday for talks with Lebanese officials, expressing hopes to work on ending the country's political crisis, DPA reported. Moratinos headed straight from the airport to the governmental palace where he started his talks with Prime Minister Fouad Seniora. "I am happy to pursue the efforts exerted by France to resolve the crisis," the Spanish official told reporters after briefly meeting his departing French counterpart Bernard Kouchner at the airport. Kouchner, who ended a two-day visit Sunday, headed to Cairo to brief the foreign ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the Arab League Secretary General on his talks in Beirut. France has taken the lead in trying to resolve the Lebanese crisis, by trying to gather Lebanese political parties to end their differences through negotiations. Moratinos, is also due to inspect his country's troops Monday in southern Lebanon following last month's blast that killed six Spanish soldiers.
