A shootout in Chechnya has left four Russian policemen and one rebel dead, the republic's Interior Ministry confirmed according to reports by the Interfax news agency on Monday. The four policemen died of gunshot wounds shortly after Chechen separatists opened fire on a convoy of UAZ trucks traveling through the woods in the republic's Vedeno district on Sunday. Another ten officers were wounded in the clashes, and one separatist was killed before the group dispersed.
