Four firefighters died and others suffered smoke inhalation while fighting fires Wednesday in the woods of Lattakia north-western Syria, Syria's official news agency, SANA, reported Saturday, according to DPA. The four firefighters were from Homs fire brigade in central Syria, 180 kilometres north of Damascus. The firefighters were assisting Lattakia fire brigades in fighting fires that broke out Wednesday in Qerdaha and Hafah in the Lattakia area, SANA reported. The governor of Lattakia told SANA that two senior officials along with heads of technical services and many other fire fighters were brought to hospital after inhaling smoke.
