Technip, a French provider of engineering services to the oil industry, said Friday it won a US$110 million (¤78.5 million) contract with Murphy West Africa, Ltd. for the development of the Azurite field, off the Republic of Congo, REPORTED AP. The contract covers the engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation and pre-commissioning of two production and one water injection flexible risers, the company said in a statement. A riser is a pipe or assembly of pipes used to transfer produced fluids from the seabed to surface facilities. With a workforce of 22,000 people, Technip ranks among the top five corporations in the field of oil, gas and petrochemical engineering, construction and services. Technip shares rose 0.8 percent to ¤61.38 (US$86.06) in Paris.
