An aftershock measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted Bengkulu Province at 07.06 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Wednesday, according to information from the national meteorological and geophysics office (BMG). The epicenter of the aftershock was located at 3.07 degrees southern latitude and 101.27 degrees eastern longitude, around 100 km southwest of Lais, Bengkulu, at a depth of 10 km below the sea level, ANTARA reported. BMG also reported a 4.7-magnitude aftershock which rattled Painan, West Sumatra on Tuesday at 11.52 pm. A 7.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Bengkulu and West Sumatra on September 12, killing 18 people and injuring tens of others.
