A police officer was killed and four federal serviceman were wounded in two separate attacks in southern Russia's Ingushetia region, AP quoted law enforcement officials as saying today. A group of two or three attackers opened fire Tuesday evening at a police major outside a mosque in the settlement of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, and he died in the hospital, Ingushetia's Interior Ministry said. On Wednesday, unidentified gunmen fired at a minivan carrying five federal Interior Ministry troops in central Nazran, wounding four of them, the regional ministry branch said. The attackers fled. In Chechnya's capital Grozny late Tuesday, two Ingush men were seized by masked gunmen who blocked a road, forced them out of a taxi and bundled them into another car, Chechnya's Interior Ministry said, citing the taxi driver. The men had been on their way home to Ingushetia, the ministry said.
