Militants on Wednesday freed six soldiers who were among more than 100 Pakistani troops abducted over the weekend near the Afghan border, AP quoted an intelligence official as saying. The soldiers were freed in Ladha, a village in South Waziristan tribal region, and handed over to members of a jirga or tribal council, the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make media comments. The soldiers have now been handed to government officials in Wana, South Waziristan's main town, he said.
