At least 19 people were killed when a bus plunged into a gorge in India's northern mountainous state of Uttarakhand on Sunday, police said. Twenty-two passengers were injured after the driver lost control and the vehicle dropped into a 300-metre gorge near Ghansali town, 170 kilometres north-west of state capital Dehradun. "While 17 passengers died on the scene, two succumbed to injuries at a hospital later," said police official Dalip Singh. Singh added that eight passengers were seriously injured and were being treated at a government hospital, DPA news agency reported.
