In line with directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to provide prompt humanitarian assistance and a grant worth $20 million to Mauritania to help alleviate the sufferings of the people badly inflicted by heavy rains and floods, a Saudi relief delegation paid a visit to flood-hit Al-Tantan city in Mauritania to get-acquainted with the real damage of the city. The delegation was received by the Acting Governor of the Western Basin Mohammed Mahmoud bin Al-Fadhel who briefed them on prompt needs of those hit by heavy rains and floods. In a statement following the delegation's visit and their meeting with the Relief Coordination Bureau, an affiliate of the Commission in charge of Social Protection and Food Security of Mauritania, Al-Fadhel thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for the assistance provided to flood-stricken people in Mauritania. This is not a strange behavior as we always receive the Kingdom's help, he said. On his part, the Mayor of Al-Tantan Municipality Saadan bin Jeddou also extended his thanks to the Kingdom and its leadership, saying that the Kingdom was always quick to the help of Mauritania and other needy countries. Ibrahim Al-Darwish, leader of the Saudi delegation, said the delegation was briefed on the real requirements and needs of the area and discussed with officials there how to provide the assistance and distribute it on the needy. On their part, the people of Al-Tantan also expressed thanks to and appreciation of the king and his government for the help they provide to Mauritanian helpless people, wishing Almighty God to reward them.
