Iran's top nuclear negotiator warned on Tuesday that any new U.N. Security Council sanctions on his country would doom Iran's cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog and render its talks with it «fruitless.» According to state television, Ali Larijani said «If they (U.S.) take any illogical move, the trend of Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency as well as the talks will become fruitless.» The comments came as senior IAEA and Iranian officials went into a second day of key talks in Tehran, in efforts to resolve remaining issues surrounding Iran's nuclear program. The talks are critical because their outcome is to be the basis for a progress report by IAEA chief, Mohamed ElBaradei, before the agency's September meeting, the Associated Press reported. Larijani said the U.S. and its allies won't achieve anything by coercion and threats. «What have they achieved from their hardline approach so far? Have they succeeded stopping our nuclear technology?» Larijani asked.
