A police officer has been killed in a shootout in the Chechen capital Grozny, the republic's law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Wednesday. “An unknown criminal several times fired from a Zhiguli car at a policeman who was standing at the gate. The incident took place at 39, Lagernaya Street in the Leninsky district of Grozny where a private security agency is quartered,” said a police source. The police officer died of gunshot wounds on the way to hospital. The investigation has been launched.
