At least 25 people, including 10 soldiers and 13 firefighters, were missing two days after a major fire destroyed one of India's largest munitions depots located in northern Jammu and Kashmir state, officials said Monday according to dpa. The fire, which started at the Khundru facility in Anantnag district, some 85 kilometres south of state capital Srinagar, on Saturday morning, was now under control, Lieutenant-General HS Panag told a press conference. Besides the soldiers and firefighters, two workers were missing from the complex. Panag said the army could not speculate about the fate of the missing people as they could be alive and holed up in the buildings since several structures inside the complex were still intact. Some people had came out alive from these buildings on Sunday night, the official said. According to the army, five people were killed and 40 injured in the blaze. The authorities had evacuated more than 30,000 villagers living within a 6-kilometre radius of the munitions depot.
