Firefighters found nine bodies in the charred ruins of a two-storey boarding house for the poor that burnt down in central Slovakia, reports said Sunday. Two residents of the boarding house for low-income families at Kysucke Nove Mesto are still missing since the fire early Friday, DPA reported. However, police and firefighters have ended their search, saying that no more victims of the blaze can be uncovered in the rubble. "The reconnaissance is over as it is out of the question that those people could be found at the scene of the fire," CTK news agency cited Zilina region police chief Frantisek Posluch as saying. Two women and two men are among the victims, he said. The remaining bodies have not been identified yet. According to police chief Posluch, the focus of the blaze was inside the building, which suggests that the boarding house was not set on fire deliberately. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The town vowed to find accommodation for dozens of people who survived, many by jumping from windows. The town hall now plans to build brick housing for the poor, which would not burn down so easily, CTK reported.
