Pakistan and Iran have the potential to extend their economic activities beyond Europe and Asia through rail link by up-gradating the existing rail system between these two countries, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed says. Talking to Iranian Ambassador Masha Allah Shakiri, the minister said as the Gwadar deep seaport in Pakistan's Balochistan province has been opened for shipments, there is a dire need to improve rail linkages between Pakistan and Iran for transaction of goods between the two countries to generate economic revenues. The work on Taftan-Zahidan (Pakistan-Iran) and Quetta-Kandhar (Pakistan-Afghanistan) sections was already underway which would ultimately give boost to the economic ventures in this part of the South Asia and rest of the world, he said. --MORE
