The Jordanian Committee for Al-Quds Affairs warned today the Israeli Authority against any excavation projects in the Holy city of Al-Quds. "The Israeli intention to continue excavations under the Holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa and dig tunnels connecting the holy Al-Aqsa mosque with the Dome of Rock, demolish Islamic sites including the Gate of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) from where the ascent of the Prophet Muhammad had assumed to have taken place to the heaven in the night of ascension," said the Committee in a press release issued in Amman. The Committee reiterated that these activities are not helping the peace process between Palestine and Israel and that even these will not be well received by 1.6 billion Muslims as Al-Quds especially the Old Town is entirely an Islamic Waqf (Endowments) and sacred to the Arabs, Muslims and Christian alike. "Any activity that leads to the destruction of Islamic and Christian sacred sites will generate more violence, hatred and resistance from future generations, " the committee said.
