Germany and Denmark agreed at talks Friday in Berlin to build a 19-kilometre-long highway bridge across an arm of the Baltic Sea, according to the Danish news agency "Ritzau." German Transport Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee was meeting with Danish counterpart Flemming Hansen in Berlin. The project has been under discussion for years and would cost 5.5 billion euros (7.4 billion dollars). The bridge would replace ferries that currently depart every 30 minutes day and night across the Fehmarn Belt between the two countries.
