The visiting Salvadorian President Elias Antinio Saca and Jordan's King Abdullah II agreed Thursday to boost bilateral ties in various spheres, according to an official statement, according to dpa. Discussions between the two leaders also covered latest developments in the Middle East including efforts under way to ensure a resumption of the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, the statement from the royal court said. "The two leaders emphasised their determination to develop ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic and cultural spheres," it added. Saca, who arrived in Amman Wednesday on a four-day official visit, will also take part in the second Lower-Middle Income Countries Summit (D-11) due to open at the Dead Sea resort on Saturday. In addition to El Salvador, the meeting will be attended by Jordan, Morocco, Ecuador, Georgia, Indonesia, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Honduras, Pakistan and Croatia. Also on Thursday, Jordan and El Salvador signed a cooperation agreement that seeks to establish bilateral ties in the fields of trade, investments and tourism, an official statement said. Saca and his wife were accorded an official red-carpet welcome that was led by King Abdullah and Queen Rania at the Basman palace.
