Tourism Minister Ms. Nilofar Bakhtiar has flown to Singapore to attend Pakistan Food Promotion coordinated by the Pakistan High Commission (embassy), an official statement said. The present government has taken a big initiative by joining hands with the private sector to promote tourism in Pakistan, she said. Ms. Bakhtiar said that it is heartening that some countries have changed the negative travel advisory and those who visit Pakistan find the country and people very different from what is portrayed by the Western media. She said that special visit programmes have been chalked out for overseas Pakistanis and their children to introduce them to our rich culture. The minister said President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are taking special interest in making Pakistan a tourist destination. She mentioned construction of 14 new five-star hotels and the up gradation of the present facilities in the hotel sector. -SPA
