An eight-member delegation of Finnish Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations has met Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, an official statement said. Apart from discussion on bilateral issues, the Foreign Minister briefed the Finnish delegation on the importance of peace and stability in the region, especially Pakistan's endeavors to normalize relations with India and to promote understanding and cooperation with Afghanistan. Kasuri said that Pakistan desired a strong, stable and peaceful Afghanistan, which was in the interest of regional stability. He briefed the delegation on the progress of the Composite Dialogue process with India aimed at addressing all outstanding issues particularly Jammu and Kashmir. The Foreign Minister also underlined the mutual desire of both Pakistan and Finland in promoting international peace and security. He underlined the importance of two-way bilateral way visits and expressed the hope that the Finnish President would be able to visit Islamabad for which an invitation has already been extended by President Musharraf. The statement said Finland is an important country in the Scandinavia and member of the European Union with which Pakistan enjoys cordial and friendly relations.
