Iran has agreed to supply 1000MW electricity to Pakistan through a transmission line to be constructed on priority basis by both sides, said an official statement. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the effect was signed by Water and Power Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi and the Iranian Minister of Energy in Tehran. Jatoi is currently on a visit to Iran. The agreement has been reached on the personal initiative of President General Pervez Musharraf to meet growing demand of electricity in Pakistan, the water and power minister told media at the time of signing ceremony, according to the statement.
