Eight cars plunged through a thin layer of ice on Lake Baikal in Siberia on Saturday, DPA quoted Russian disaster control services as saying . Details on the fate of the occupants of the vehicles were not yet available, said a spokesman for authorities in the Siberian city of Irkutsk. Rescue teams including three divers were working at the scene of the accident on the western part of the lake.
