The 13th General Assembly of Asia Pacific Parliamentarians Conference on Environment and Development (APPCED) will start in Islamabad Feb 28, an official statement said. Delegates from nearly 20 countries of Asia Pacific Region have so far confirmed their participation in the 4-day moot (February 28-March 03) being hosted by the Pakistan (Upper House of Parliament). The theme of the Conference will be "Water Conservation and Sustainable Development". Leading experts working in various international organizations will present their research papers in the technical sessions of the conference on judicious use of water and its conservation to develop a synergy between all member countries by sharing their knowledge, expertise and strategies with a view to evolve a viable policy to meet the emerging challenges in the field of environment for sustainable development. The APPCED was established by Korean Parliament as a Regional Parliamentarians Conference, dedicated to environmental issues. It will assist the parliamentarians to legislate on sustainable development and strengthen partnership among the Parliamentarians of the member countries.
