Water tech show set as Kingdom increases desalination capacity
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 05 - 2010

Saudi Arabia, the world's largest producer of desalinated water, is expected to increase its production capacity for desalinated water to 1.127 billion cubic meters in 2010 as the country continues to implement measures aimed at improving water supply levels and preventing potential water challenges in the future.
Furthermore, the Kingdom expects to invest up to SR1.3 billion this year for renovation of old water desalination plants, in addition to new desalination projects being implemented all over Saudi Arabia.
Against this background, Saudi Water Technology 2010 - The 8th International Exhibition for Water Technology, Desalination Plants and Accessories Show, is poised to provide a centralized platform to showcase the latest technologies, expertise and best practices that will support Saudi Arabia's long-term water strategy.
Scheduled for May 24-27 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Saudi Water Technology will bridge the supply and demand for innovation and new water technologies, while hosting a series of seminars, workshops and conferences that will discuss and outline solutions for the country's long-term water challenges.
Khaled Daou, project manager of Saudi Water Technology at Riyadh Exhibitions Company, said: “We have put together a powerful line-up of international manufacturers, suppliers and service providers to ensure a comprehensive showcase of the latest and most advanced water technology and management products and equipment. Moreover, Saudi Water Technology will bring together key decision-makers from several water authorities and companies around the world, creating an excellent environment to facilitate new business opportunities and discuss potential large-scale projects.”
“With up to 70 percent of the country's drinking water requirements and majority of urban and industrial centers being supplied by desalination facilities, desalination will surely be a key topic at Saudi Water Technology. Accordingly, we have prepared specialized seminars, workshops and conferences to be participated by all industry stakeholders to promote a synergistic approach in dealing with the country's water challenges,” added Daou.
Saudi Water Technology 2010 will feature the latest services, products and projects from both local and global companies.
Products and services to be showcased at the event include central control systems, conservation techniques, desalination plants, drainage systems, effluent water treatment, electronic sensors, hygrometers, pipes and fittings, pumps and filters, remote sensing, reverse osmosis units, valves and gauges, waste water management, water analysis devices and testing equipment, water management and distribution network, water management tools, water meters, water purification, water reclamation, water storage reservoirs, water technology, water temperature controls, and water treatment chemicals.
The event will be held concurrently with Saudi Elenex - the 13th International Electrical Engineering, Power Generation& Distribution Exhibition; Saudi Luminex 2010 - the 10th International Lighting Equipment Show, and Saudi Aircon 2010 - the 11th International Exhibition on Air
