Faysal Alaquil, Director of Business Development and Corporate Social Responsibility Department at CPC and Maie Binladen, Deputy Director of CPC's Corporate Social Responsibility Department, meet Dar Al-Hekma students after their return from Singapore. JEDDAH – Construction Products Holding Company (CPC) sponsored the participation of three female students from Dar Al-Hekma College, Jeddah, in the five-day Global Leadership Conference 2011 held recently in Singapore. The conference was in preparation for the Earth Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2012, which will be attended by representatives from 20 countries. "The conference was a good opportunity for today's generation of students to acquire knowledge, refine their productive capacity, discuss ways for sustainable development and find solutions to environmental and climate problems," said Faysal Alaquil, Director of Business Development and Corporate Social Responsibility Department at CPC. "It was also an opportunity for them to meet their peers from around Asia and further the cause of sharing knowledge and gaining cultural understanding." Participants in the conference prepared a report on climate policies and strategies to achieve sustainable development. During the last three days of the conference, the participants took part in drafting a consolidated document for submission to the Earth Summit in Brazil next year. The three students being sponsored by CPC under its social responsibility programs were Rehab Abdul Kader, Mona Osman and Nora Maghrabi. "One of the main objectives of the Global Leadership Conference 2011 was to familiarize the young generations with past achievements so that environmental protection work continues for a more sustainable future," said Maie Omar Binladen, Deputy Director of CPC's Corporate Social Responsibility Department. Environmental Challenge Organization (Singapore), a non-profit social enterprise that aimed to establish a voluntary environmental movement, is organizing the leadership conference. "The conference reflects the highest ideals of ECO Singapore in bringing together motivated and proactive youths from the Asia-Pacific for developing their leadership qualities and to address issues related to the environment and climate change," Alaquil said.
