Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hosted an official welcoming ceremony for visiting Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf at the Presidential Office here Monday. Musharraf arrived this morning at the head of a top-ranking political and economic delegation on an official visit to hold talks with senior Iranian officials. He was welcomed at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport by Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mohammad Saeedi-Kia, 'IRNA' reported. Musharraf and Ahmadinejad were to begin official talks on bilateral relations, other issues of mutual interest and the Islamic world as well as regional and international developments. Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri is accompanying Musharraf on his current visit. Pakistani sources said that during talks with Ahmadinejad, Musharraf will raise with the Iranian president his "peace initiative" for the Middle East. President Musharraf's visit is seen as a continuation of the Middle East tour he made last month, which included Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and the United Arab Emirates.
