Heavy fog disrupted lives and businesses and touched off multiple car crashes across Bangladesh that left at least 24 people dead and scores injured, officials said Saturday, reported Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa. Intense fog blanketed the capital city of Dhaka forcing airlines to cancel domestic and international flights, airport officials said. Train links between Dhaka and the northern hinterland were snapped overnight while ferry services remained suspended as visibility plunged to a record low. The worst highway accident happened in northern Sirajganj district where a car collided head-on with a bus killing eight persons. Another seven people were killed as a van smashed into a microbus bus early Saturday near the town of Pabna. Nine other fatalities were reported from across northern Bangladesh.
