EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT HOSNI MUBARAK OPENED HERE TODAY THE 39TH SESSION OF CAIRO INTERNATIONAL BOOK EXHIBITION. MUBARAK VISITED A NUMBER OF PAVILIONS AT THE SHOW INCLUDING THE SAUDI PAVILION. SAUDI CULTURAL ATTACHE IN CAIRO MOHAMMED AL-OKEIL SAID THE MINISTRIES OF HIGHER EDUCATION, EDUCATION, CULTURE AND INFORMATION, AND ISLAMIC AFFAIRS, ENDOWMENTS, CALL AND GUIDANCE, IN ADDITION TO MADINAH-BASED KING FAHD HOLY QURAN PRINTING COMPLEX, KING ABDULAZIZ PUBLIC LIBRARY AND KING FAHD NATIONAL LIBRARY, KING FAISAL RESEARCH AND ISLAMIC STUDIES CENTER, KING ABDULAZIZ FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND ARCHIVES, UMMAL QURA UNIVERSITY, IMAM MOHAMMED BIN SAUD ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, KING SAUD UNIVERSITY, MADINAH-BASED ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, KING FAHD UNIVERSITY FOR PETROLEUM AND MINERALS, KING FAISAL UNIVERSITY, TAIF UNIVERSITY, AL-QASSIM UNIVERSITY AS WELL AS TENS OF PUBLISHING HOUSES ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE SAUDI PAVILION. ABOUT 26 COUNTRIES AND ABOUT 700 PUBLISHING HOUSES FROM THE VARIOUS PARTS OF THE WORLD ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE SHOW WHICH WILL BE OPEN UP TO FEBRUARY 4, 2007. ABOUT 20 MILLION TITLES ARE EXPECTED TO BE DISPLAYED AT THE EXHIBITION. ON THE FRINGES OF THE SHOW SEMINARS WILL BE ORGANIZED TO DISCUSS SEVERAL TOPICS LIKE ISLAM AND THE WEST, PEACEFUL USAGE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY AND THE ROLE OF THE CIVIL SOCIETY IN THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS.
