Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Tabuk Region, was conferred the award of Hilal-i-Pakistan by President General Pervez Musharraf at a special investiture ceremony at the presidential palace on Friday. The award has been conferred on Prince Fahd in recognition of his endeavours for strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, an official statement said. The statement said that earlier Prince Fahd held a meeting with the president in which Musharraf recalled the extremely close and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He lauded the governor's services in giving a meaningful and purposeful orientation to these ties. According to the statement, Prince Fahd thanked the government of Pakistan for conferring the prestigious award on him. Prince Fahad had donated one million Saudi riyals for the affectees of the massive October 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. The governor built a 60-bed state-of-art hospital at Dalbandin in Balochistan apart from the construction of residences for the doctors and nurses attached with the medical facility.
