TWENTY TWO PILGRIMS DIED AND ANOTHER 24 FROM VARIOUS NATIONALITIES OF SYRIA, EGYPT, PAKISTAN AND KYRGYZSTAN WERE INJURED TODAY IN A COLLISION BETWEEN TWO BUSES TRANSPORTING PILGRIMS RETURNING FROM THE HOLY LANDS TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES ABOUT 7 KILOMETERS FROM SAUDI-UAE BORDERS. IN A STATEMENT TO SAUDI PRESS AGENCY, THE SAUDI RED CRESCENT OFFICIAL IN AHSA SAID THE INJURED WERE TAKEN TO NEARBY HOSPITALS, ADDING THAT PRINCE FAISAL BIN ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ, HEAD OF THE SAUDI RED CRESCENT, ISSUED DIRECTIVE TO EXERT UTMOST EFFORTS TO RESCUE THE INJURED AND TO TRANSPORT BODIES OF THE DEAD.
