UAE Labour Minister Dr. Ali Bin Abdullah Al-Kaabi and Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to regulate recruitment of Pakistani manpower and its entry into the United Arab Emirates in accordance with relevant laws, rules and regulations of the two countries, says an official statement. The MoU would be in force for a period of four years and would be automatically extended for four years consecutively unless either party gave three months notice in advance in writing to revoke it. According to the statement, Khan said Pakistan would increase export of manpower to the UAE in future in pursuance of the MoU. Dr Al-Kaabi is in Pakistan on an official visit, heading a five-member delegation. Khan said Pakistan and UAE would set up a joint committee, comprising three members from each country, to take care of the implementation of the MoU. It would meet annually, or when it is deemed necessary, alternatively in Pakistan and UAE. The minister said the UAE is the main market for Pakistan's skilled and semi-skilled workers. He said the growing trend of the UAE to import more Pakistani manpower was the result of mutual confidence and reliability between the two countries. --MORE
